Technisch Buro Pola

Pola, an installation partner in the Netherlands, faced a common but critical challenge: grid congestion. With a modest grid connection of just 79 kW, Pola needed to power its entire operation, including:

• A main office and heat pump
• 4 AC chargers and one DC charger
• An unpredictable subtenant with high energy peaks

To tackle this, Pola simulated various scenarios using the Tibo Energy EMS. The simulations considered energy flows from their Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), two PV installations, and the fluctuating energy demands. These scenarios highlighted the most efficient strategies to stay within their contracted power limits while optimizing operations.

Tibo EMS ensured seamless, real-time energy management by:

• Strategic battery management: Keeping the BESS charged with the cheapest energy sources, such as surplus PV power or off-peak grid energy, and discharging it during peak demand.
• Peak demand mitigation: Automatically discharging the battery during high-demand periods to prevent exceeding the contracted grid capacity.
• Smart EV charging: Dynamically limiting EV charging sessions to maintain balance across the energy network.
• Priority management: Ensuring essential operations like heating and office power supply remain uninterrupted.

Tibo EMS ensured seamless, real-time energy management by:

• Optimized energy use: Pola now utilizes the cheapest and cleanest energy sources while maintaining consistent battery availability.
• Compliance with grid limits: The system ensures Pola never exceeds its contracted grid capacity, avoiding penalties and operational disruptions.
• Seamless business expansion: Despite grid constraints, Pola can expand operations with confidence, knowing their energy needs are under control.
