Today we are proud to announce our €6M Seed round led by KOMPAS VC with participation from Hitachi Ventures, WEPA Ventures, SET Ventures, and Speedinvest.

Since launching in late 2023, we’ve deployed our AI-driven energy management system across more than 30 industrial sites. We help businesses unlock additional energy capacity from their existing infrastructure by intelligently managing distributed assets—without waiting for grid upgrades.

Grid congestion is already limiting business growth in the Netherlands, where companies face multi-year delays for grid upgrades and mounting penalties for peak loads. Our software unlocks extra capacity by steering local energy assets in real-time. Early signs from Germany and Spain suggest this challenge is spreading fast.

With this funding, we’re expanding into Germany and Belgium, doubling our team, and extending our EMS platform with new modules—from fleet charging coordination to advanced visualization via PowerBI.

Alice: Our AI Engine That Never Sleeps

Our platform combines a drag-and-drop Energy System Simulator with real-time control powered by Alice, our proprietary AI optimization engine. Alice updates control schedules every five minutes, dynamically adjusting energy flows based on live data, price forecasts, and contract constraints.

The system works with any hardware and scales across different asset types—solar, batteries, EV charging, you name it. Instead of just reacting to what happens, we help you anticipate it. Alice steers your assets based on predicted prices, grid limits, and CO₂ intensity, ensuring energy always flows where it delivers the most value.

“Infrastructure limitations shouldn’t hold back the energy transition,” said Remco Eikhout, our CEO and co-founder. “Alice enables industrial players to leverage unused capacity, predict risks, and optimize in near real-time—whether you’re managing a single battery or a full EnergyHub. This funding helps us bring that flexibility to more European customers.”

Proven Results Across 30+ Sites

We’ve already proven our value across 30+ industrial sites, with multi-site implementations for companies like Montea and active control at locations like Intratuin.

Our customers coordinate local production and consumption, monitor energy use, and automate decisions that used to require manual input. The results? Avoided peak load penalties, optimized solar generation, and significantly reduced operational costs.

Partners like Unica, Hoppenbrouwers, and Stantec are actively implementing our EMS across logistics, retail, and light industry. “Thanks to Tibo Energy, we help customers facing grid congestion achieve their sustainability goals,” said Geert Oerlemans, Innovation Manager at Hoppenbrouwers.

Scaling Across Europe

KOMPAS VC led our round with participation from Hitachi Ventures and WEPA Ventures, alongside existing investors SET Ventures and Speedinvest. Next to the investment by the Family Venture Capital firm WEPA Ventures, we entered into a broader industry cooperation with WEPA Group to explore innovative industrial energy solutions—highlighting the synergy between family business VC investing and value-add start-up cooperation.

We’re using this funding to expand into Germany and Belgium while doubling our team over the next 12 months across engineering, sales, and product. On the product side, we’re building plug-and-play modules for fleet charging coordination, e-boiler control, and advanced PowerBI visualization—giving you even more ways to tailor your energy setup.

Sebastian Peck, Partner at KOMPAS VC, added: “Tibo gives industrial customers the tools to actively manage their energy use, even in constrained environments. With the rise of grid congestion and decentralisation, this kind of intelligence is no longer optional—it’s essential.”

Founded in 2022 by Remco Eikhout, Jeroen Althusius, Josh Mengerink, Linda Zandt-Sloot, and Bram Cappers, Tibo Energy develops AI-driven software to simulate and control decentralised energy grids. Based at Eindhoven University with a team of 30, Tibo helps industrial and commercial customers unlock greater capacity, optimise energy use, and accelerate the energy transition. Since launching its platform in late 2023, Tibo Energy has delivered measurable results for clients across Europe—enabling more flexible energy use, faster decarbonisation, and smarter infrastructure planning.
