Limited grid capacity had brought development at the park to a standstill. New businesses could no longer establish themselves and expansion plans were put on hold. Existing generation capacity also remained partially unused. Solar panels had to be switched off whilst machinery ran on grid electricity.
Through Tibo Energy’s Energy Management System (EMS), participants coordinate their consumption and generation. The system predicts peaks, spreads load where possible, and optimises based on costs, emissions, and grid pressure. This creates capacity on the existing grid without physical expansion.
The infrastructure is prepared for further growth. Battery storage is in preparation and wind energy integration is possible.
The installation, technical execution and management of the energy hub was carried out by Unica Building Services Eindhoven. As service partner, Unica is responsible for deploying the gateways at participating companies and managing the operational hardware. In collaboration with Tibo Energy, Unica ensures stable system performance and provides support to connected businesses.
Since commissioning, businesses are making better use of their grid capacity and solar panels are once again feeding back into the grid consistently. Participants experience greater flexibility to plan production, and new registrations at the site are being reconsidered.
Councillor Van der Hamsvoort states: “With the launch of the energyhub, we’re demonstrating that excellent developments can still be achieved during times of grid congestion. The energyhub offers businesses a solution to establish themselves, expand their plans, or become more sustainable. We’re proud of the companies for making this happen.”
“This hub shows that you can do more with the same assets, in the same location,” says Remco Eikhout, CEO of Tibo Energy. “Smart control is where the real gains lie. By better coordinating consumption, generation, and grid capacity, space is created without burdening the grid. That’s precisely what our technology is built for.”
The energyhub at Kempisch Business Park is now operational with five participating companies: ATD Machinery, VGI Group, Willems Baling Equipment, VDL Fibertech, and MS Schippers. The ambition is to further expand the hub in the coming period, both in functionality and in the number of connected parties.
